Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography under the Chinese Academy of
Sciences (CAS) announced recently that with the help of an automatic
infrared camera, the "Xiangjiang snow leopard study" team shot some
pictures of wild snow leopard on the Tomor Peak, the No. 1 peak of
Tianshan Mountain range. According to Ma Ming, principal of the "Xinjiang
snow leopard study" project, it is the first time that Chinese scientists
acquired real record of a wild snow leopard's life. Specialists estimate
that there are around 1,000 snow leopards in Xinjiang at present, 1/4 of
world's total volume. Pictured: Ma Ming was introducing how they screened
the snow leopard.
