On the afternoon of Aug.21st, "Ningming," on which Deng Xiaoping took in
his tour to Zhuhai in southern China, arrived in Changsha and anchored in
the Du Fu Jiangge Dock [riverside pavilion named after Du Fu (712-770), a
renowned poet in the Tang Dynasty (618-907)]. It was one of the most
advanced and well-equipped warships in China in the 1980s. "Ningming" is
59 meters in length and 7.8 meters in width. It was learned that
"Ningming" will stay in Changsha for three months for public visits and a
series of events related to the ship.
