The "10-li (5km) Long Street" in Luqiao District of Zhejiang's Taizhou
City was commonly known as "Old Street." Built in the East Han Dynasty
(25BC-220AD), the street is one of the largest ancient building clusters
in Zhejiang by far. The 10-li Long Street has been prosperous since the
Song Dynasty (AD960-AD1279). In recent years, the local government
invested nearly 800 million yuan (US$100 million) to renovate and
revitalize this ancient street.
