Sakya Monastery, located over 500km west of Lhasa on the upper-stream of
Yarlung Zangbo River, is the main temple of one of the main branches of
Tibetan Buddhism. On a summer day, after regular lessons, a few young
monks were calling their family members and friends with cell phones,
drinking the most in beverages. With the economic development, the
mysterious Roof of the World witnesses profound changes. Chinese
telecommunication departments established wireless communication networks
in populated areas and temples in Tibet, and the number of mobile phone
users and internet users grow dramatically.
