Human Dragon Dance in Guangdong

Locals dance together to form the shape of a dragon at Dongshanwei
Village in Dongshan Town, the hometown of Human Dragon Dance on Feb. 15,
2006.

Chiananews, Feb. 23 - Human Dragon Dance of the Donghai Island in
Guangdong's Zhanjiang City is included in the candidate list of China's
first group of national intangible cultural heritages.
People at Dongshanwei Village in Dongshan Town, the hometown of Human
Dragon Dance, were singing and dancing to celebrate this good news on
Feb. 15.
It is said that in ancient times, people would stage three evenings of
Human Dragon Dance with great joy in the east and west main streets of
the town every Moon Festival to celebrate a prosperous time, a good
harvest and a merry Moon Festival and entertain the public.
