When retreating and living in the Jietai Temple in the West Mountain,
traditional Chinese painting master Aisin Giorro Puru, great grandson of
Emperor Dangguang of the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911), used blood of the tip
of his tongue as paint to create the only tongue-blood painting. On
August 7th, this precious painting was on display for the first time at
the Pilu Pavilion of the thousand-year Tanzhe Temple in Beijing. Covered
for sixty to seventy years, the 60-cm long and 40-cm wide painting still
looks bright red. It is said that master Puru painted this work to
commemorate his mother.
