Tian Zhaofang, a resident in Matou Town of Shandong's Tancheng City, is a
folk artist who has 25 years of experience in paper sculpture. Paper
sculpture for doorframe decoration has a history of more than 300 years
in the town and now such a folk art of paper sculpture is facing
extinction. Tian spent 20 days creating 1,000 paper sculptures featuring
"Five Friendlies." She plans to present her works to the Beijing
Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad via relevant
authorities to express her expectation of and wishes to the Beijing
Olympics.
