Han Dynasty farmlands and courtyards
www.chinanews.cn 2006-02-21 16:09:08
Archaeologists found a large well-preserved site of Han Dynasty
(206BC-220AD) farmlands and courtyards at the ancient Yellow River course
in Sanyang Village of Liangzhuang Town in the south of Henan Province's
Neihuang County in 2003. After nearly two years of exploration and
excavation, the Henan Institute of Cultural and Historical Relics and
Archaeology has confirmed the bases of seven courtyards and cleaned up an
area of about 9,000 square meters at present. This discovery reveals the
production and life of low and middle-class populace and unveils
courtyards and farmlands in the Han Dynasty, filling up the blank in the
archaeological history. Pictured, archeologists were mopping up the No. 3
courtyard.
